A history of vision casting…

All of us have limitations.  Not everyone can fly an airplane, play a musical instrument, or build a computer.  However, some limitations can be lifted.  People can take flying lessons, music lessons, and computer…well, two out of three isn’t bad!  The point is that lifting limitations frees us to be the people God has called us to be. 
The idea of lifting limitations is not new to Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church.  By God’s grace, when we paid off the debt on the existing worship center back in 2003, the vision was cast to begin the process of exploring future ministry needs.  A long range planning team began meeting and praying about the next steps that God was leading us to take.  With thriving children’s ministries and the desire to grow our student ministry area, the vision for WCRBC was cast to expand the current facilities to include more educational space (for all ages, but especially for children and student ministry) and add much needed recreational/multi-use space. And throughout the discussions, the theme that undergirded everything was reaching the community for Christ.
 In 2007, the church family approved the plans to construct a 34,000 ft community life center that we call the ROC (Recreation Outreach Center a/k/a Reaching Our Community).  By God’s grace and the perseverance of His people, this project commenced in the summer of 2008 and we began using the space in July of 2009. The ROC includes a regulation high school gymnasium, modern preschool facility, commercial kitchen, student ministry wing, classrooms, and office space for preschool/recreational ministry staff. All of these additions provide a consolidated campus and a variety of ministries to reach our community for Christ.  

A new vision for now…

Having completed “The ROC,” now is the time to work toward paying off the debt on this facility.  This will free us from the financial limitations that come from debt.  Our vision is to pay off the debt by the end of 2017.  This is an ambitious goal, but we believe it is attainable by the grace of God and by the Holy Spirit working through this church family.  This will allow us more freedom in meeting other goals such as church planting and increased mission efforts around the world.  Unlimited 2017 is the vision to do this.
Each individual and every family is needed to make this goal a reality.  We have recently asked our church family to make 3-year pledge commitments in order to contribute significantly toward this vision. In addition to these systematic weekly/monthly gifts from the pledge commitments, we hope to receive other substantial one-time gifts from stock sales, real estate sales, and other estate settlement gifts by the end of 2017.  We will also build a certain amount of debt service into our general budget each year. 
More than anything, we pray that God would open up people’s hearts to be generous with their resources so that we would be able to pay off the debt as quickly as possible.  We praise God for what He has already accomplished in the lives of people here at Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church.  May we continue to glorify God by making disciples throughout the world!
