AWANA

At Wake Cross Roads we believe it's important for children to grow in their knowledge of the Bible. One ministry option we offer for kids is AWANA  (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, based off 2 Tim. 2:15). AWANA is an international Bible-centered children's ministry for children ages 2 through sixth grades. Each evening begins with an opening flag ceremony and is followed by Handbook Time, Game Time, and a brief Bible study.

WCR Kids Awana is a discipleship branch of WCR Preschool (birth through 4 years old) and WCR Kids (K through 5th grade) ministries.
  • Handbook Time (Small-group time where clubbers recite memorized verses to an AWANA Leader.)
  • Game Time (Fast-paced, high-energy time of fun.)
  • Council / Green Meadow Time (Large-group time with Bible teaching.)
Each evening concludes with a time for clubbers to receive awards earned. An award ceremony and recognition service is held at the end of each AWANA year to recognize each clubber's accomplishments.  There are many special events throughout the year that include theme nights, grand prix, Bible quizzing, and much more.

AWANA meets Wednesday evenings August through May. Times can be found on our service/times schedule page.

We provide AWANA to WCR member families and to those who are not actively involved in another local church. Church membership entails one being saved, baptized, and involved in every facet of one’s local body of believers (including programs, events, and activities). We want to assure space on Wednesday nights for WCR Kids and fulfill the Great Commission by reaching the lost and unchurched kids of our community.
If you and your family are members of another like-minded church, we encourage you to support and be immersed as family in your local church activities on Wednesday nights.
