AWANA offers a curriculum that reaches kids and their families with the gospel. This proven and adaptable curriculum develops leaders and disciples kids to walk with Christ for life. The goal is to “reach kids, equip leaders, and change the world” by making one disciple at a time. The name AWANA is an acronym for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed,” which comes from the key verse:
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15, KJV).
AWANA pairs a small group discipleship handbook with large group teaching and discussion. A popular part of our weekly meeting is the high-energy, exciting game time in the gym! Children and teens have fun learning how to memorize God’s Word, study the Bible, and apply it to their lives. They also learn about worldwide missions and the need to help others. As children complete various stages in the AWANA program, they earn awards, which serves as encouragement along the way. We would love to have your child join us at AWANA this year!
AWANA at Wake Cross Roads is available for kids ages 2 through 5th grade and meets weekly on Wednesday nights at 6:00-7:30pm from September through May. Parents are encouraged to stay for our adult Bible study in the worship center, and WCR Students also have their student Worship at the same time. If you're worried about dinner, we've got that covered as well! Join us before AWANA for our weekly family meal at 5:00pm.
There's something for everyone on Wednesday nights at WCR!
