WCRBC Pastor Search Announcement

November 21, 2021

It is with great joy we share that Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church has called Dr. Randy Mann to be our Lead Pastor by a 99% affirmative vote! Pastor Randy will officially start on January 1, 2022. Please be in prayer for Randy and Melanie as they prepare to sell their home and relocate to Raleigh in the coming weeks.

Just as Pastor Randy shared this morning from Ephesians 3:20, we have witnessed our God do exceeding, abundantly beyond all that we ask or think in the last year and we move forward with anticipation of His continued great work at Wake Cross Roads!

It is with great pleasure and excitement that the pastor search committee announces Dr. Randy Mann for consideration and approval as our lead pastor at WCR. As a committee we have worked joyfully and with complete unity to arrive where we are today.

Many of you will remember Randy and Melanie and know them well, but many of you will not. Please let us give you a brief introduction, and perhaps, for some, a refresher. Randy and Melanie are natives of Alabama and came to NC in 1998 for Randy to begin graduate studies at SEBTS. Upon arrival in Wake Forest, they became members and servants here at WCR. Randy completed his Masters of Divinity with Biblical Languages in 2002 and joined the staff at WCR in 2003 serving as Associate Pastor of Education and Evangelism. In many ways, Randy’s preparation for ministry began and was nurtured over a 15-year period at WCR. In 2010, Randy completed his Doctor of Ministry degree at SEBTS with a focus on Missions, Evangelism and Church Growth. In 2013, Randy became the Lead Pastor of Central Baptist Church in Henderson, NC, where he and Melanie have served until now.

Melanie beautifully supports Randy in ministry and serves their family, church, and community well. She approaches her various roles with an attitude of intentionality, and always full of love, grace, and truth. Whether it's her family, the community, or the ladies of the church, she serves with the heart of Jesus. She has that spirit of servanthood and hospitality so needed in our culture. To know Melanie, even a little, is to love her. She complements Randy in all the Lord has called him to be.

The Manns have three adult children: Josh (25), a graduate of Southeastern, is married to his bride Jamie and lives in Asheville, NC. Caleb (21) is working with family in the residential construction industry in Alabama and Abbie (19) is in her last year of school at ECU and preparing to enter law school after graduation.

The Search Committee wants you to be assured, that even though Randy is very well known to us, and comes highly recommended by our trusted contacts, we did not take his qualifications and calling to this position for granted. Randy has completed a lengthy, written questionnaire and we have spent hours and hours in meetings and interviews with Randy and Melanie. We have discussed personal matters, leadership style and preferences, pastoral questions and, yes, a myriad of doctrinal issues. The presentation and call of Randy has been enthusiastically approved by all of the elders. In addition, Randy has met with the pastoral staff, and they are eager to serve together.

Randy will preach here in two weeks, November 21st, in view of a call, and we will vote that same Sunday. On Saturday, November 20th, from 9am-12pm, there will be a time for the church body to meet Randy and Melanie, interact with them and ask questions. We trust you share our excitement over God’s leading in this search and look forward to the weekend of the 21st. If affirmed by vote, Randy and Melanie will join us in early January. Please continue to pray for WCR, for Randy and Melanie, and for our brothers and sisters at Central Baptist.
